Day 11

Daily Focus: Obedience and Submission to Authority

One of the greatest words in God’s vocabulary is obedience. We may know every all things pertaining to the kingdom of God, but if we don’t walk in obedience, it goes for naught. God’s people are to respect persons of authority unless they ask us to do something contrary to the will and plan of God.

Romans 13:1 (NIV)
Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God

1 Peter 2:13-14 (NIV)
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.

John 14:15 (NIV)
“If you love me, you will obey what I command…”

John 14:21 (NIV)
“… Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him”

John 14:23 (NIV)
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him…”

Teach us (them), Lord, to be OBEDIENT to You, parents, grandparents and all others in authority. Teach us (them) to live in submission to all in authority as long as those in authority do not ask us (them) to do things contrary to the Word of God. If so, then help us (them) to obey God rather than man in Jesus’ Name. Amen
