Day 18

Daily Focus: Spiritual Growth and Development – The Full Armor of God

Growth and development is natural to all living things. God expects all believers to grow and mature spiritually as well. Roadblocks, hindrances and obstacles are placed in our way in the walk-of-life. The full armor of God is both protection against the attempts of the enemies of the kingdom of God to slow down or block our developmental process and a reminder to grow and mature spiritually in our Christian walk.

Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Ephesians 4:12-13 (NIV)
… to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up
13  until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)
10  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11  Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Lord, help our children, grandchildren and family members to be faithful to reading and memorizing YOUR WORD, prayer, witnessing, Christian disciplines (like fasting), spiritual warfare, interceding for others, including family and those who are lost, and may we (they) grow strong spiritually, emotionally, physically and relationally.
May we (they) also enthusiastically and joyfully lend a helping hand to people in need.
Put on us (them) the FULL ARMOR OF GOD every day: The Girdle of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, Shoes of Peace, Shield of Faith, Helmet of Salvation, and the Sword of the Spirit – By grace in faith, cause us to walk in Spiritual Victory to Your glory and honor and praise and delight in Jesus’ Almighty Name. Amen.
