Do Not Quench The Holy Spirit

Grieving The Holy Spirit is bad enough, but quenching Him is even much worse. Some Bible translations use “put out” for the word “quench.” Cutting off the Holy Spirit all together is a most serious sin strongly to be avoided

Scriptures:

1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NIV)
Do not put out the Spirit’s fire…

Hebrews 10:29 (NIV)
How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of Grace?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, forgive me for the times I quenched Your fire intentionally or unintentionally. Please have mercy on me for Jesus’ sake. Make me aware of how I may grieve or quench You and help me to always avoid doing so. Make me very sensitive to You, Holy Spirit, and anoint and empower me to “flow” with You at all times and in all places to God’s glory, honor and praise in Jesus’ Name. Amen

Do Not Grieve The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit can be grieved if we disobey His instructions and teaching. It is wise not to disappoint or grieve the Holy Spirit

Scripture:

Ephesians 4:30 (NIV)
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, help me and protect me from ever grieving You in any way, at any time or in any place. Forgive me, Holy Spirit, when I grieved You. I’m so sorry (we’re so sorry). May You develop within me great sensitivity to You, Holy Spirit, so I can always live in agreement with You and never grieve You again. Lord, let it be so in Jesus’ Name. Amen

Prayer Conference – Safford, AZ  (March 2017)

The most recent PWI Prayer Conference in Safford, AZ was well received (and for the first time, it was made available for those offsite via Facebook).  The conference focused on  Maturing Your Spiritual Gifts.  It was great to have Pastor Bjorn and Pastor Steve Brown teaching as well as Wendy Brown leading worship.
Jennifer Wenham of  Desert Springs Community  Fellowship had the following to say about the conference.

“We were so blessed and enriched by the recent Spiritual Gifts prayer seminar with
Prayer Watch International. The 2-day Spiritual Gifts prayer seminar was absolutely refreshing to our spirits. We saw many breakthroughs in our congregation.  The teachings by Pastor Bjørn and Pastor Steve increased our understanding how to put our gifts into practice. Sunday morning was another time of great breakthrough;  Pastor Bjørn taught on the importance of forgiveness. It’s always a joy to have PWI come to Safford and we have enjoyed a beautiful partnership in Kingdom advancement. Thank you, Prayer Watch for your faithfulness and power-packed teachings!”

Live and Walk In and By The Holy Spirit

All believers wage a war against the sinful nature, but The Holy Spirit guides followers of Jesus on how to successfully overcome the temptations of flesh and the world

Scriptures:

Galatians 5:16 (NIV)
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Galatians 5:25 (NIV)
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with (walk in) the Spirit.

Prayer:

Lord, it is my heartfelt desire to live in You, Holy Spirit, to live by You, Holy Spirit and to always walk in (or walk with) You, Holy Spirit. Strengthen and empower me, Holy Spirit, to make it possible every moment of every day, even every minute of every day. I ask the same for the entire body of Christ worldwide in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen

 The Holy Spirit Produces Fruit

One of the most important responsibilities of the Holy Spirit is to produce fruit in the lives of believers. God is always looking for fruit in the lives of His people. If there is some fruit, He wants to see more fruit. If more fruit is produced, He wants much fruit to be produced in every believer

Scripture:

Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV)
22  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, anoint and empower every Christian person to produce a “bumper” crop of fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control to God’s glory, honor and praise in Jesus’ Name. Especially, Holy Spirit, I ask for Your help to produce much fruit of ___________________ (Identify areas you desire to see more/much fruit in your life and ministry).
In Jesus’ Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit Guides in the Selection of Leaders

How important it is for the church to consult with The Holy Spirit before selecting or appointing leaders and all persons given responsibilities in any congregation or fellowship!

Scripture:

Acts 13:2-3 (NIV)
2  While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
3  So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, guide all selections of leaders throughout the Christian Church. May only those who You want to lead be appointed, elected or chosen to leadership of God’s people locally, nationally and globally. Please, Holy Spirit, let there be no enemy infiltrators!! Let no false apostles, false prophets, false evangelists, false preachers, false teachers, false intercessors, false prayer warriors and/or anyone false, but place instead only true apostles, true prophets, true evangelists, true preachers, true teachers, true intercessors, true prayer warriors and/or true persons–be placed into leadership or any other position within the body of Christ worldwide in Jesus’ Almighty Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit Directs the Movements of Christians

The Holy Spirit spoke clearly to the Peter about God’s plans for an all important meeting with Cornelius and his family. He heard The Holy Spirit’s voice clearly and obeyed – the church expanded from ministry to the Jews to reaching out to the gentiles

Scripture:

Acts 10:19-20 (NIV)
19 While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three men are looking for you.
20 So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them.”

Prayer:

Lead and direct me, Holy Spirit, like You did Peter in Acts 10. Speak to me so clearly I cannot miss Your voice, messages and confirmations. Then empower me to always follow Your instructions in wholehearted obedience in Jesus’ Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit Brings To Remembrance Christ’s Words

As a Counselor and Teacher, The Holy Spirit will help us to remember Jesus’ Word and what the Bible says to share His Truths with others

Scripture:

John 14:26 (NIV)
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

Prayer:

Anoint and empower me, Holy Spirit, to remember and apply the Word of God, especially what Jesus said. Cause me, Holy Spirit, to meditate on and memorize Scriptures and to use the Bible wisely as the Sword of the Spirit in all circumstances and situations to the detriment of the enemy, his forces and schemes. And may my prayers and actions further the Kingdom of God and bring glory to God in Jesus Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit Will Teach Believers All Things

The Holy Spirit is the Teacher “par excel lance.” He will open the Bible and reveal its secrets like no human teacher ever can do. He will teach us all we need to know about the kingdom of God and His righteousness

Scripture:

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, teach me, and all believers, all things as You know it; so I can teach others the information, inspiration and revelation You share with me – in God’s time and to God’s glory and honor and to the blessing of God’s people. In Jesus Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit Gives Gifts

One of the major tasks of The Holy Spirit is to give believers gifts and skills for mission and ministry in the kingdom of God. The church is like a body, comprised of many and sometimes diverse parts. However, the various parts in the body work together to fulfill and accomplish the tasks at hand. It is supposed to be the same in the body of Christ. Each person is given one or more gifts which are to be used to build up the church and bring glory to God.

Scriptures:

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (NIV)
7  Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
8  To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit,
9  to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit,
10  to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.
11  All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

1 Corinthians 12:12 (NIV)
12  The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.

1 Corinthians 12:14 (NIV)
14  Now the body is not made up of one part but of many.

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, I ask for all of the gifts You know I need and You would like to give me. If it is acceptable with You, Holy Spirit, I would like to ask for all the gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 above: Words of wisdom and knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, tongues and interpretation of tongues. Scriptures say that I should “eagerly desire spiritual gifts” (1 Corinthians 14:1). You determine what I need and I yield myself to Your wise decisions.  Strengthen and guide me, Holy Spirit, to discover, develop to maturity in Christ and deploy all of Your gifts according to God’s plans, purposes and time-tables in Jesus’ Name. May all of the gifts You give me build up the Christian Church, be very fruitful and bring much glory and honor and praise to God in Jesus’ Almighty Name. Amen
