Living and Walking in Spiritual Maturity – Day 1

Today we are beginning our series of PRAYERS FOR LIVING AND WALKING IN BIBLICAL AND SPIRITUAL MATURITY. This will be a 10 part series, with a new post coming out every Tuesday and Thursday for the next five weeks.  Join Pastor Bjorn Pedersen as he leads us in a short devotional and prayer each segment.

Focus: Love of God and Love of Neighbor

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to love the Lord our God with all our hearts, minds, souls and strengths; and we are to love our neighbors as ourselves

Deuteronomy 6:5-9 (NIV)
5  Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
6  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8  Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9  Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Matthew 22:36-40 (NIV)
36  “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37  Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38  This is the first and greatest commandment. 39  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Leviticus 19:18 (NIV)
“‘Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD…”’

Dear Heavenly Father, empower me by Your Holy Spirit, to love You with all my heart, mind, soul and strength today and every day and anoint me to love my neighbor as much as I love myself. Forgive me for having fallen short of Your plan, but encourage and strengthen me to start over again with your help and wisdom in Jesus’ Almighty Name. Amen
